Standert PFADFINDER
I’ve been lucky enough to be supported by Berlin based Standert this year. I’ve had to accept that I’m no longer the rider I used to be, I don’t ride in the high mountains or spend twenty hours a week on the bike and I have no desire to be sixty two kilos again.
Now my riding is a mixture of road, gravel or possibly my favourite term “Edgelands” ™️ North London Dirt/ Supertore Wilderness. It’s local, leading VIA laps and weekend rides, city rat runs, Surrey dirt and bike packing. The Pfadfinder has proven itself to be the perfect partner. I run two sets of wheels, one with a set of 28mm Pirelli P-Zeros and another with 35mm Cinturatos on the new Chris King GRD 23 wheels. It’s a true do it all bike, a Swiss Army knife if you will, geo dialled for the road and clearance for the trails, it’s ideally suited for where and how I ride.
Sure there’s lighter bikes and bikes with wider clearance but I don’t need that, I’m old enough, experienced enough and cynical enough to realise that the freedom I seek from cycling and and the smiles that something this incredibly versatile bike delivers matter far more than the constant lighter, stiffer, more aero at speeds most don’t ride marketing BS that the industry marketeers force upon us.
