Sunday 6th March was the final day of Eating Disorders Awareness Week. To highlight the importance of this week, and to help encourage discussion around the topic in a sport where eating disorders and body dysmorphia are sadly commonplace, The New Normal Charity and ASCND teamed up with Rapha London and London's cycling communities to host a ride and highlight the importance of conversations and community.

Five groups hit the road… and mud led by Chaingang Cyclists, Steezy Collective, GFTL and Rapha ride leaders and headed out on a variety of routes in Essex, Surrey, Kent and Regents Park laps, before returning to the Rapha Soho Clubhouse to catch up.

Nick Frendo, ASCND “For me personally to see so many people come together with a goal to show support for people who might be suffering and to show that they are not alone and don’t have to suffer in silence is incredible. The London cycling community is a special thing and this kind of event where bring people together and talk is exactly what I’m trying to achieve with ASCND”

Benjamin May, The New Normal Charity “At The New Normal charity we believe in the collective community sharing their experiences and learning from one another. Seeing so many people coming together to ride, to speak and also listen was great. We believe the bicycle is a powerful tool and we saw that on Sunday with so many people riding and sharing their stories."

At ASCND we’re lucky enough to have contributions on the topic from India Landy, Caspar Gylling and Beau Marksohn. Hit the links to the journals and to read more about their experiences.

Thank you to all the community ride leaders and to Rapha London for supporting and organising the day.
